Worksheet Procedures
Instructionsβ
- These ORM worksheets capture planned/expected risk and acceptance of that risk by the mission owner. A high or severe risk score is not necessarily cause for alarm or reason for mission stoppage. Often an already risky situation (adversary intrusion on a critical operational network) requires equally risky actions by the team, and taking no action would incur greater risk to the mission. This is simply an acknowledgement of those risk factors.
- Not all actions or situations can be accounted for in this template. Identify any additional factors in the Other section of the Pre-Mission worksheet and make your best assessment based on the Risk Factor Definitions below.
- Mission Risk based on the mission plan should be accepted and approved by the appropriate mission partner authority at the mission in-brief, or sometime prior to execution. The mission risk is ALWAYS to be accepted by the mission owner/OPCON.
- Brief the Mission Partner that daily pre-sortie risk will be assessed and additional risk acceptance will only be sought if individual risk factors increase the overall mission risk. For example, if the mission approval authority accepts moderate mission risk, then any daily pre-sortie risk assessment of moderate need not require additional approval. If, however, the daily pre-sortie assessment indicated high risk for that day, the team should seek the appropriate approval before execution.
- As a mission progresses, the situation may dictate a change in the original plan. When changes happen, pause momentarily to reassess risk. When the overall mission risk increases based on the team performing tasks or acting on terrain that were not either previously planned or approved through pre-approved actions or some other rules of engagement, then the crew lead should seek the appropriate approval before executing those tasks presenting increased risk.
